How to Manage a Token After Launch on Sui
Open token management with the wallet that holds the right capabilities. Metadata updates, minting, burning and blacklist changes require on-chain permissions. Current service fees are 5, 1, 1 and 1 SUI respectively, plus gas; giving up a capability is usually irreversible.
Know which capabilities the wallet holds
A TreasuryCap allows token administration such as minting, burning and metadata changes. Holding the token itself does not give a wallet those rights.
Freezing addresses is a separate capability. A blacklist cannot be added to a token that was launched without it.
Record irreversible changes
Minting, burning and giving up permission change what holders and the project team can expect. Write down why the action is needed, then keep the digest and the before-and-after supply or metadata.
Updating metadata does not change the token name, symbol, decimals or original supply. Those fields are fixed in the contract.
Hand over more than a private key
A team handoff should include the wallet, full coin type, TreasuryCap and DenyCap locations, blacklist state and the relevant transaction history. A key alone leaves the next team guessing what the project can still do.
